Delhi has one of India's largest concentrations of student PGs. Aspirants preparing for civil services and other competitive exams crowd into Mukherjee Nagar, Old Rajinder Nagar and Laxmi Nagar, while Delhi University students fill PGs around North Campus. Most of these PGs are run by independent owners, often from residential buildings.
That market is about to become more regulated. After the building collapse in Satya Niketan in September 2026, the Delhi government proposed a law to bring PGs under a formal framework — including operating licences, police verification and safety standards — with education hubs such as Mukherjee Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Rajendra Nagar and North Campus specifically in focus. This guide explains how hostel and PG management software in Delhi helps you get your records and finances in order now, whatever the final rules require.
What Delhi's proposed PG rules mean for record-keeping
As reported, the draft proposes that PG operators obtain licences, complete police verification, and meet safety requirements such as CCTV and visitor registers; caps on rent and deposits have also been discussed. The final rules may differ, and the timeline is not yet certain, so follow official notifications from the Delhi government, MCD and Delhi Fire Services.
What will not change is that a regulated PG needs accurate records. Software can provide the ones it covers:
- A complete resident list — names, phone numbers, guardian or emergency contacts, joining dates and rooms — exportable to CSV.
- Room-by-room occupancy, so you always know how many people live in each room.
- A room-transfer history showing who moved where, when and who made the change.
- Transparent rent and deposit records, with a numbered receipt for every payment.
It does not replace licences, fire safety clearances, CCTV or visitor registers — those remain your responsibility.
PG management software for aspirants and students
Civil-services aspirants often stay for a year or more; DU students follow the academic calendar. Instalments are set per resident, so monthly payers and semester payers can share a building while you see all dues in one list, each marked paid, due, overdue or upcoming. When someone leaves, mark them as left: the bed is free immediately and their history stays on record.

If deposits and rents come under closer scrutiny, clean records protect you. Set a standard security deposit, record it separately from rent with its own receipt, and check each resident's balance before they move out. Every payment — UPI, bank transfer, cash or cheque — records who received it and which account it went to.
Several PGs across Delhi
Many operators run properties in more than one area. Set up each as its own building, with its own rooms, residents and expenses, and view one or all together. Give each caretaker their own login with limited access, so every entry has a name against it.
What it costs
CSNexa Hostel Management plans start at ₹2,999 a year for up to 50 residents, with plans for 70, 100 and 300 residents and custom pricing for larger operators. It runs in the web browser on a phone or computer, with nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Will hostel management software make my Delhi PG compliant with the new rules?
No software can do that on its own. It keeps accurate resident, occupancy, rent and deposit records that a regulated PG will need, but licences, fire safety, CCTV and police verification remain the operator's responsibility. Follow the official notifications as the rules are finalised.
Can I export a list of everyone staying in my PG?
Yes. The student report lists residents with their rooms and details, can be filtered by building or status, and exports to CSV.
Can I manage PGs in Mukherjee Nagar and North Campus from one account?
Yes. Each property is set up as its own building, and you can view them separately or together. Multi-building support is included from the Growth plan.
How much does it cost?
Plans start at ₹2,999 a year for up to 50 residents, with plans for 70, 100 and 300 residents and custom pricing above that.
