Every week Zomato sends money to your bank account, and every month your CA asks the same questions: How much GST did you collect? How much did Zomato pay on your behalf? What were the commission and TCS? Why does the bank credit not match the order value? The answers are all inside the Zomato settlement report — spread across several sheets and more than 60 columns per order.
This guide explains what the Zomato settlement report contains, which figures matter for GST and income tax, and how CSNexa's free Zomato report generator turns the file into one clean, CA-ready Excel workbook in a few seconds.
What is in a Zomato settlement report?
The settlement report you download from the Zomato restaurant partner dashboard is an Excel workbook. The sheets that matter most are:
- Payout Breakup — the totals for the period: net order value, Zomato's service and payment fees, government charges, other deductions, additions and the net payout, split into amount settled and amount pending.
- Order Level — one row per order with every amount that makes up its payout: item total, discounts, GST collected, commissionable value, service fee %, fees, taxes on fees, TCS, TDS, GST paid by Zomato under section 9(5), settlement date and bank UTR.
- Addition/Deduction details — restaurant-level items such as ads or adjustments from earlier weeks.
- Summary — your legal entity, GSTIN, PAN, report period and payout cycle.
Everything your CA needs is there, but not in a form that can be pasted into a GST return or matched with a bank statement.
Why the report is hard to use for GST and accounts
- GST is split in two. The report shows, order by order, how much of the GST collected from customers Zomato paid under section 9(5) and how much is left for the restaurant to pay. Count the full amount as your liability and you overpay; ignore the split and the books do not reconcile.
- Several deductions sit between order value and payout. Base service fee, payment mechanism fee, 18% GST on those fees, TCS, TDS under section 194O, penalties and refunds all reduce or add to the payout.
- Cancelled and rejected orders behave differently. They appear with an order value, but the restaurant receives only a refund or pays a penalty, so they must be kept out of taxable sales.
- Payouts arrive weekly, by UTR. Matching a month of orders with four or five bank credits by hand takes time.
- Some orders need a closer look. Orders with no GST, or with an unusual effective rate because of mixed items, should be checked before filing.

The generator reads the settlement report and creates a new Excel workbook with seven sheets:
| Sheet | What it shows | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Summary | Restaurant and GSTIN details, sales and GST, Zomato fees, TCS, TDS, net payout, and a line-by-line check against Zomato's own Payout Breakup | A one-page view of the month; confidence that nothing was missed |
| GSTR-1 Table 14 | Table 14(b): supplies through Zomato on which Zomato paid GST under section 9(5), with Zomato's GSTIN and the matching GSTR-3B figures | Filling Table 14(b) of GSTR-1 and Table 3.1.1(ii) of GSTR-3B |
| GST Report | Every order with taxable value, GST rate, GST collected, GST paid by Zomato u/s 9(5), GST payable by the restaurant and its CGST/SGST/IGST split | GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B working |
| Rate-wise GST | Taxable value and tax totals by GST rate | Rate-wise figures for returns |
| Order Annexure | Order-level fees, taxes on fees, deductions, additions, TCS, TDS and payout | Expense booking and input tax credit on Zomato's fees |
| Settlements | Payouts grouped by settlement date and bank UTR, with pending amounts | Bank reconciliation |
| Review | Orders with no GST, a non-standard effective rate, figures that do not add up, and all cancelled or rejected orders | Checks before filing |
Amounts are formatted in rupees with Indian digit grouping, header rows are frozen, every table has filters and totals, and nothing is recalculated from assumed rates — every figure comes from Zomato's own columns.
A worked example (illustrative numbers)
Suppose a restaurant's monthly Zomato report shows customer orders worth ₹2,50,000 including GST. The Summary sheet would set it out like this:
| Particular | Amount |
|---|---|
| Taxable value (delivered orders) | ₹2,38,000 |
| GST collected from customers | ₹12,000 |
| of which paid by Zomato u/s 9(5) | ₹6,000 |
| of which payable by the restaurant (CGST + SGST) | ₹6,000 |
| Zomato fees, GST on fees, TCS, TDS and other deductions | ₹88,000 |
| Net payout to the bank | ₹1,62,000 |
The GST payable by the restaurant is what goes into GSTR-3B; the 9(5) portion is reported as supplies made through an e-commerce operator. The exact treatment depends on your registration, so always confirm with your CA — the report simply puts the right numbers in front of them.

Which file do I need to upload?
The Zomato settlement report in .xlsx format, exactly as downloaded from the Zomato restaurant partner dashboard, with the Order Level and Payout Breakup sheets. Does it file my GST return?
No. It prepares the figures and checks them against Zomato's payout. Filing and the final tax treatment remain with your CA.
